NJROTC PROGRAMS

NJROTC - Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps

The Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) was established by Public Law in 1964 as a program designed to help students develop the self-discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills necessary to successfully meet life’s challenges, regardless of one’s career path.
NJROTC instructors are qualified officers and non-commissioned officers who have retired from active duty after a minimum of 20 years of service, and are certified to teach by the U.S. Navy and the state of California.
The NJROTC curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, our maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation, and meteorology. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by co-curricular community service activities; academic, athletic, drill and orienteering competitions and field meets; visits to military activities, and marksmanship and physical fitness training.
